Daniel Cooke

April 16, 2025

Following on from our update recently, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security is looking for public commentary for the recently announced Section 232 investigation into semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

The Commerce Department said it’s trying to determine the effects on national security of imports of semiconductors, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and their derivative products. This includes semiconductor substrates and bare wafers, legacy chips, leading-edge chips, microelectronics, and SME components. Derivative products include downstream products that contain semiconductors, such as those that make up the electronics supply chain.

Comments are due by May 7. You can review the full notice from the Commerce Department along with detailed instructions for to submit your comments here

We recently held a webinar focused on Steel and Aluminum but the content is relevant here too.  If you haven’t yet seen it, you can review the webinar and the slides we presented here.

We will share additional updates as we get them.  In the meantime, if you have questions about your specific products, please contact us at Tariff.Support@albawheelsup.ocean5strategies.com.
